Hot Tub Salt
Hot Tub Salt
Don't waste money on salt for your hot tub. WE DON'T SELL SALT BECAUSE YOU CAN GET IT MUCH CHEAPER LOCALLY At HOME IMPROVEMENT, HARDWARE OR GROCERY STORES. You can use Solar Salt which is about $6-8 for 40 lbs. This is a course salt and will take a little bit longer to completely dissolve but works perfectly well. Pool Salt is finer and is $15-40 per 40 lb. bag. Canning and Pickling Salt is about $3 per pound...any sodium chloride salt without iodine which is in iodized table salt or scale inhibiting additives that can be found in water softener pellets.
Salts marketed for hot tubs will typically be the highest price per pound.
HIMALAYAN SALT has minerals that will be oxidized by the chlorine and end up in your filter.
DEAD SEA SALT has a lot of ingredients including minerals. The ingredients will require more Dead Sea Salt to be added than regular salt and the minerals will be oxidized and end up in the filter. Because of the amount of non-salt components which increase conductivity of the water, more will need to be added to get enough for sufficient salt to chlorine conversion. This can give a salt controller false readings and have negative impact on the way it functions.
DO NOT USE EPSOM SALT!
